Big Beach Boutique 3: Brighton New Years Day 2007

Madeira Drive, Brighton: 1 January 2007

Fatboy Slim today unveils his new plans for Big Beach Boutique 3, his third open-air concert to take place on Brighton seafront.

Big Beach Boutique 3 will take place on Madeira Drive, Brighton seafront, on New Years Day 2007. This 20,000 capacity, open-air site has been carefully selected to ensure maximum safety after lengthy consultation with Sussex Police, Brighton & Hove City Councillors, and other key agencies.

As well as Fatboy Slim, there will also be special guest DJ sets during the event from David Guetta and The Cuban Brothers.
Big Beach Boutique 3 will be strictly ticket-only, with 20,000 on sale from Thursday 2nd November. Tickets will initially only be made available to members of the public who have a BN postcode, after which they will go on sale to the rest of the country.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT INITIATIVE

There is concern over the current driving standards in England, so the Department of Transport has devised a scheme to identify drivers of limited ability and intelligence. From the middle of May 2006 all those drivers who are found to be a potential hazard to all other road users will be issued with a white flag, bearing a red cross. This flag clearly indicates their inability to make rational decisions or drive properly. These flags must be clipped to a door of the car and be visible to all other drivers and pedestrians. Those drivers who have shown particularly poor driving skills will have to display two flags: One on each side of the car to indicate an even greater lack of skill and limited intelligence. Please circulate this to as many other motorists as you can, in order that drivers and pedestrians will be aware of the meaning of these flags.

Thank you for your co-operation -Department of Transport.

It's Not Easy Being Green

BBC Two Tuedays 8:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Strawbridge family are going green. Inventor and engineer Dick (Who looks like the Walrus might from The Walrus and the Carpenter ) and his planet-loving wife Brigit and kids James and Charlotte take on a 300-year-old farmhouse in Cornwall - with three acres of land, a leaky roof and no plumbing, electricity or home comfort in sight. Their aim is to live a 21st Century lifestyle and be self-sufficient in energy and food. (Pigs arrive in the next program)

Two songs of the moment Smog - Anniversary and Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats (lyrics below) which is used in the Sony Bravia advert.

one night to be confused
one night to speed up truth
we had a promise made
four hands and then away

both under influense
we had devine scent
to know what to say
mind is a razorblade

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

one night of magic rush
the start a simple touch
one night to push and scream
and then releaf

ten days of perfect tunes
the colors red and blue
we had a promise made
we were in love

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough

and you, you knew the hands of the devil
and you, kept us awake with wolf teeths
sharing different heartbeats
in one night

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

16.03.2006 - iTunes is serving Crazy (Single Version) a month early ! But is it the same as the version that BBC Radio One have been playing ?

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space

And when you're out there
Without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Probably

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably

Sky+

About a week ago my V1 Pace Sky+ box blew up (large white spark) This box has had various modifications over the years to keep it going, e.g. new HD and a power supply from an old Lacie ext HD. I have had Sky+ since day one and it is still without doubt the best PVR. It was only once the box had blown up did I realise that EyeTV and Freeview was not for me. As an existing customer a new box from Sky is £259.00 I was able to get a Pace 3100 40GB box for £98 on Ebay.

Once the box arrived I opened it up and removed the old 40GB Maxtor and installed a 120GB Seagate Barracuda. The drive had been used in the old Pace box. When the 3100 was powered up with the 120GB drive the Sky+ box would not switch on (even after leaving it for 3hrs) So I removed the drive and plugged it into a Mac and formatted the drive as a FAT32 volume and put it back into the new Sky+ box and it works fine.

Two good Sky+ resource websites are morlocks and digitalspy

Elgato EyeTV DTT

Tuesday 15 November 2005 Permalink
The plan is to move to a TV free home. Instead use just an Apple iMac 20" for Internet / TV / Sky+ without paying a subscription other than the BBC licence fee.

Living in Brighton I assumed the reception of Digital TV would be very good. And after looking at various post code checking web-sites it seemed that this is so.

I plugged my new Elgato EyeTv DTT in to my Mac and scanned for channels, some 100+ were found. However the picture on all but one channel (BBC 4) brakes up.

I have a high gain Digital Ariel on my roof, with a Pace freeview box the reception is fine and the signal on all free to air channels is strong. It seems that the DTT needs 100% signal to work, this I have been told is not likely until nearer the 2012 Analogue switch off.

This morning the EyeTV DTT has been sent back to the Apple-Store. I am now going to try the EyeTV 410 from what I have read these boxes are better with signal fluctuations.
